Programme Details:
As
there is a rapid expansion of the educational system which tends to
increase in the supply of educated manpower above the corresponding
demand for them. This contributes to the problem of the youth
unemployment in Nigeria. According to the NBS (2011), over 1.37 million
students were enrolled in universities, polytechnics and colleges of
education in 2006 and another 1.98 million in 2007 in which some of them
are yet to find a good job after their graduation. Given that most
courses are completed in four or five years, many of these 3.2 million
students that enrolled in 2006 and 2007 entered the labor force in
2010/2011. These do not include the number of Nigerians of working age
that dropped out at secondary school level for various reasons and
entered the job market in the rural and urban areas out of the 21
million that were enrolled in 2006 and 2007. Out of this huge population
of students that graduated in this years which encompasses graduate of
first class, second class and brilliant products of this glorious
country, hardly could 10% of this populace secure a good job up till
this present moment. So by considering this findings, it was clearly
observed that talents and innovations are dying inside people every year
and all of this are factors that have trickles into the Nigeria economy
as it has contributed largely to the act of terrorism, cybercrimes and
insecurity in the country.
Therefore
to advocate for Nigerian students who are currently enrolled in
Nigerian universities, colleges, polytechnics and tertiary institutions,
Nicareer has introduced the concept of Student Jobs Reservations (SJR)
programme that aims at providing guaranteed job employment's to Nigerian
graduates of high grades and low grades honours after the completion
of their studies and the conclusion of the National Youths Service Corps
(NYSC) programme. This initiative also aims to provide seminar
workshops, bursary awards and part-time Jobs for students who are duly
admitted and enrolled in Nigeria universities, colleges, polytechnics
